A reminder to always check your credit card statement
Here is a quick reminder on why you should always look over your credit card statement’s thoroughly. On the way home from a recent vacation to Yellowstone National Park I stayed at a Holiday Inn for free because I had plenty of Priority Club rewards points to cover the stay. When my credit card statement arrived about a week later I was giving it a quick look through when I noticed an $80 charge for that hotel I had stayed at for free.
I signed into my Priority Club rewards online account to see what had happened and saw that I had been charged twice. They had both taken the 15,000 points out of my account and charged my credit card for the room. The good news is that the problem was quickly fixed. I called the hotel to ask what had happened and the young lady who answered the phone quickly figured out the problem and refunded my credit card.
I don’t think this happens a lot because I have stayed at a lot of hotels with rewards points and this has never happened before. This incident is just a quick lesson to remind me to always check my credit card statement for incorrect charges because there will always be mistakes made from time to time.
