I read dozens of websites and blogs on how to save money so you don’t have to. Here are my favorite articles this week:
Do It Yourself Pest Control to Save Money I just used this advice from Joel at saveoutsidethebox.com to save $270. How? Last year I hired a pest control company to treat my home and they charged me $150! This year I listened to Joel’s instructions and saved myself a bunch of money. The tenant at my rental home asked me to have his place treated as well. Instead of paying a professional $300 I bought some chemicals and a sprayer off of Amazon for about $30.
Make Money Series – Earn Money Testing Websites I love unique ways to make extra money and Grayson from sproutwealth.com has an interesting one. Testing out websites sounds like a great way to make a few extra bucks.
I’m Earning Money, Now What? So if you can manage to make a little extra money what do you do with it? Crystal from budgetinginthefunstuff.com has a few ideas.
Funny Money: Pro Athletes Don’t Need Your Money; How to Watch Your Team Play for Less Phil from moneyunder30.com has some good tips on saving money on your next trip to see a ballgame. I’ll add one more to Phil’s list. I always bring a sealed bottle of water to a game so I don’t have to pay for a drink. My local university allows this, but I don’t know if most pro teams do or not.
Lessons of Thrift From 1875 Finally, J Money from budgetsaresexy.com has a pretty cool story about how finding a very old book about how to save money. Sounds to me like it’s pretty much the 1875 version of the personal finance blog.
